Rwanda eases travel restrictions, opens up for both domestic and international tourists

The Government of Rwanda on Wednesday, June 16th 2020 announced that Rwanda Tourism restrictions should be eased, allowing both Domestic and Foreign Tourists with Chartered flights to the Country’s Tourism Destinations. The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) further elaborated that tourism activities, as well as the resumption of International Travel for charter flights, will reopen effective of 17th June 2020.

Tourists are now allowed to visit all the National Parks Volcanoes National Park, home to the Endangered Mountain Gorillas and Golden Monkeys, Akagera National Park home to the Big 5 Animals and Nyungwe National Park mainly for Chimpanzees which they will do under minimum health and safety guidelines.

To maintain safety measures, domestic tourists visiting the primates parks thus Nyungwe National park and Volcanoes national park are required to test negative for Covid-19 within 48 hours prior to visiting these parks.
All visitors travelling by Charter flight are expected to test negative for Covid-19 within 72 hours prior to arrival and again all tourists will take a second Covid-19 test prior to visiting any of the tourist attractions.
