TIRUN competes in Oxfam India Trailwalker 2020 – India’s biggest walkathon for a cause
Walk for a change and leave a trail for others to join. Perhaps, this thought was on the minds of TIRUN Travel Marketing’s 4-member team – led by Varun Chadha – as they covered a 100-kilometer stretch during February 7 to 9 at Oxfam India’s global flagship fundraising event, ‘Oxfam India Trailwalker’. Starting from the foothills of Nandi Hills at Sultanpet in Bangalore, the 4-member team successfully completed the trail in less than 41 hours in a tough test of endurance. It has also raised over INR 1,01,500 so far while the bar for minimum fundraising was set at INR 80,000.
Oxfam Trailwalker is a global walkathon event held to eliminate the socioeconomic divides and make world a more livable place. All of the proceeds generated from its India edition will be used for Oxfam India’s projects on education, gender, health, forest rights, and equality. This is the second time TIRUN has participated in the Oxfam India Trailwalker walkathon and raised funds.
Commenting on the event, Varun Chadha, CEO, TIRUN Travel Marketing said, “We, at TIRUN, have always believed in making the world a better place to live and an even better to travel. The Oxfam India Trailwalker and TIRUN’s vision are similar in more than one way as it presents scenic views and amazing people midway. This is while testing the strength, endurance and integrity of the group also. We are extremely delighted to have positively contributed to this year’s Oxfam India Trailwalker as well by being a part of it.”
During the challenge, each team member was required to individually cover a distance of 100 km and collectively within 48 hours. TIRUN’s team members had been practicing extensively to condition their bodies for rising to the demands of the challenge. The team came across with flying colours in this ‘Walk for Equality’.
