Jammu and Kashmir Tourism conducts roadshow in Kolkata

Jammu & Kashmir Tourism and Jammu & Kashmir Pilgrim & Leisure Tour Operators Forum (PILTOF) recently conducted a roadshow for the tourism industry of Kolkata.

Jammu & Kashmir with a particular mention of Kashmir as the playground of the Himalayas is known all over the world for its tourism potential. It is a destination which has diverse tourist attractions in all its explored and unexplored areas.

The aim was to remove the fear from the mind of common people regarding Kashmir and also promote Kashmir through different mediums and urge the travel agents and travel fraternity to sell Jammu and Kashmir extensively.

“Our main goal behind organizing this roadshow was to send across a message that Kashmir is a destination for all age groups and can be visited all the year-round, and at the same time to clarify the minds of the people that there is no law and order problem and security issue so far as tourists are concerned in Jammu and Kashmir. We are participating in all the travel fairs like TTF, OTM, etc. and we are trying to build on the confidence that Kashmir is safe for travel. There is no restriction as on date and everything is fine and we wanted to convey this message through this meet,” Nisar A Wani, Director, Tourism, J&K to Travel News Digest.

The people of Kashmir Valley who are heavily dependent on the earnings from tourism were present in Kolkata for the roadshow to urge the people of Kolkata to extend full support and sell Kashmir as a preferred destination to holiday-loving people of West Bengal. It was due to the strong resolve of the tourism trade and efforts of the successive state and central governments that illustrated tourism is again showing an upward trend.

The event was supported by Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Travel Agents Association of Bengal (TAAB) and SKAL International Kolkata.
