Indie Campers at work.

Indie Campers is a rental marketplace for road trips, started as a campervan rental provider and are currently moving into new types of vehicles (cars and motorcycles) and into peer-to-peer rentals as planned this 2020.

As Europe and the world are currently experiencing sustained transmission of the Coronavirus, Indie Campers initiated measures to accommodate travellers prioritising everyone’s health and safety. The campervan rental company has stopped accepting bookings until the 29th of April. Deep cleaning of all vans with a powerful disinfectant is one of the extra measures that have been implemented in addition to their general cleaning procedures.

As the peak of the pandemic is reaching the majority of countries in Europe and Indie Campers are fortunate enough to be present throughout the majority of those, the company quickly realized that it was time to put their resources at the disposal of the communities.

Having a fleet of over 850 campervans and motorhomes, Indie Campers started working these past weeks towards extending their vans to hospitals, NGOs and other public or private organisations who are providing assistance to this emergency across Europe, for transportation
and distribution of resources, for patient transportation or treatment or even to be used a sleeping accommodation for patients or medical practitioners if necessary.

The campervan rental company, headquartered in Portugal have delivered over 26 vans across European NGOs, for assistance on their relief efforts, In Italy, Portugal and Belgium.

The company stated that they are more than open to being contacted by NGOs, Hospitals, Public Entities and other involved associations to collaboratively solve this crisis.

“It is our strong belief that it is now time to give back. We need to step up as individuals, leaders and community members, and ensure we all follow the guidelines and recommendations offered by governments, as well as local, national and worldwide authorities. We are all in this together and we will get over this as a strong, positive and united community. Nothing is above the safety and public health of our communities,” says Hugo Oliveira, Founder and CEO of Indie Campers.
