Kerala tourist spots to be made differently-abled friendly by 2021

Kerala State Tourism Minister Kadamapally Surendran in a recent statement said that tourist hotspots in the state are all set to become differently-abled friendly by 2021. Various other facilities including special parking areas and toilet facilities will be made available for the differently-empowered tourists to enjoy barrier-free holidaying in the State, he said in the State Assembly.
The government has identified a total of 120 tourist spots across the state to implement the project. The Minister informed, “Of them, 98 destinations have already been made completely differently-abled friendly. Work in other centres are progressing.”
Special tour packages under the Responsible Tourism initiative will also be launched for the differently-abled.
Accessible ramps, special toilets, wheelchairs, walking sticks, folding walkers, crutches, special signages, tactile walkways, touch screen kiosks, Braille brochures and audio guides were some of the features provided at the differently-abled friendly destinations as informed by the state tourism department.
