YIA Operator Yangon Aerodrome Company Ltd holds roadshow in Kolkata
Yangon Aerodrome Company Ltd (YACL), the operator of Yangon International Airport (YIA) organised a one-day roadshow in Kolkata to promote air travel between Myanmar and India, two countries which share strong historical and cultural ties.
YACL and IndiGo co-hosted the Enchanting Myanmar 2019, India event at JW Marriott Hotel in Kolkata which gathered around 500 representatives from airlines and travel operators from the two countries.
Other representatives from Myanmar participating in the event included Myanmar Tourism Federation and its members as well as Myanmar Airways International. YACL has operated in Yangon International Airport since 2015. Currently, the only Indian airline operating at YIA is Air India, which operates three scheduled flight per week to and from New Delhi. YACL said that the roadshow would raise awareness about the airport and promote air connectivity between India and Myanmar. YIA handled a total of 6.035 million passengers in 2018.
“We are excited to host the roadshow with IndiGo in Kolkata. Myanmar and India are neighbouring countries with strong cultural and historical ties. As the operator of the aviation gateway to Myanmar, we are pleased and look forward to forging stronger aviation links between the two countries,” said Jose Angeja, Chief Operating Officer at YACL.
“With the Myanmar Government granting visa-on-arrival to Indian passport holders, travel to Myanmar is now more easily accessible for Indian nationals. The roadshow is an important occasion for us to collaborate with our Indian counterparts and partners to develop more routes so more people can experience what Myanmar has to offer and vice-versa.”
