Elaborating on the aim behind bringing the roadshow to India after a gap of five years, Billy Wan, Director of Business Development, Harbour Plaza North Point said, “Indian travellers in Hong Kong are very important for all our hotels. We’ve come here to present our hotels and inspire them to come to Hong Kong. We want to get more people to know about our group. Our group is not an international one, it is a local chain in Hong Kong. Besides, a lot of tour operators and travel agents from India have to book through DMCs in Hong Kong. We need to explain to them how to book the hotels.”
India has emerged as one of the most lucrative markets for Hong Kong in recent times and the hospitality chain is all set to welcome more and more Indian travellers with new additions to its existing repertoire. The newest offerings from Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts include Hotel Alexandra, located strategically at the North Point Harbour Front. With 840 guest rooms, many of which overlook the city’s skyline and the Victoria harbour, Hotel Alexandra’s decor is inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
The other innovation is the recently renovated lobby at Harbour Grand Kowloon, decorated with Prisms of Light and an addition of 360 new guest rooms and suites, making it one of the biggest 5-star hotels in Hong Kong. Speaking at the Mumbai edition of the show, Martin Cheng, Director of Sales, Harbour Grand Kowloon said, “India is one of the key markets for my property. The number of visitors we get from India is in the fifth position. We’ve been coming here since 2009. This is the 10th year of showcasing in India. The roadshow is a very good opportunity for us to showcase our hotel to the trade partners so as to update them about some of the new facilities.”
The Mumbai edition of the Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts roadshow came to life with B2B interactions, followed by a series of presentations on each of the participating hotels. The sales mission was an exercise in promoting the hotel chain’s services and innovations to the booming Indian outbound travel market as well as engaging with various stakeholders to enhance the number of Indian guests at all Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts properties.
