Tripura to boost economy by developing tourism
The finance minister of Tripura, Jishnu Debbarma recently said in order to boost the local economy and increase the employment opportunities the department is proposing to develop Tripura as one of the attractive tourist destinations in the country by developing tourism potential.
In his first budget speech, Debbarma said that Government has taken up several measures including setting up of a Trust for development of Matabari Temple and a new plan for Narikel Kunj in Gandacherra. There are also plans for potential places like Trishna, Sepahijala and Unakoti which would be developed into attractive tourist destinations. The government would like to provide standard facilities to the tourists and ensure safety and proper ease of connectivity, he said.
Debbarma also confirmed information that the state government is attaching high importance to promote this sector with the help of Central Government. He said a comprehensive plan for the promotion of tourism has been taken up, covering augmenting accommodation facilities, improving the existing infrastructure and attraction at major tourist destinations, developing the communication network and strengthening the skill of the manpower engaged in this sector.
Endowed with the rich variety of tourist attractions consisting of archaeological monuments, historical palaces, water bodies, temples, mosques & Buddhist Stupas of religious significance, forest and wildlife, traditional craftsmanship, rich cultural diversity, Tripura offers vast potential for growth of tourism.
