As a part of the Visit Korea Year Campaign 2016-2018, South Korea had organised the Korea Sale Festa during the month of October. At the opening ceremony, a K-Pop concert was organised which saw more than 20 performances by the famous K-Pop stars.

For the international tourists, special offers ran throughout the month, with Korea’s major airlines (Asiana Airlines) offering a 1+1 event on flight tickets for 24 Chinese routes and 10 Japanese routes when buying more than two flight tickets at once.

Special Theme Weeks was celebrated throughout October with new themes each week, which included Must-Buy week, Must-See week, Must-Do week and Must-Eat week. During this period, gifts and giveaways were provided to visitors to participate in the events.

18 culture and art festivals were held in the metropolitan area and 37 various festivals took place across the country. These festivals included Busan One-Asia Festival, Gwangju Biennale, Jarasum International Jazz Festival and Korea Drama Festival.

There were translation and event guide service available in English at the event centre and foreign visitors had the opportunity to use the Hands Free Service, which was a baggage delivery and storage service between department stores-hotels-airports and major spots of Seoul, for up to 50% discounted prices during the period of the Korea Sale Festa.

Byungsun Lee, Director Korea Tourism Organization, before the start of the sale said, “Korea Sale Festa brings flood of enjoyment opportunities for the traveller visiting South Korea during October. I would like to welcome all the Indian travellers to visit Korea and benefit from the available offers and celebrate Diwali the Korean style this year.”
