Bihar witnesses growing trend in both domestic and inbound segments
Bihar, a state that has immense heritage and cultural value, is also a good draw for both domestic and inbound tourists. The state’s Tourism Department is undertaking initiatives to better its tourism offerings, enhance the Buddhist Circuit, and improve facilities for tourists.
According to Dr Deepak Prasad IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Bihar, the destinations that fall on the Buddhist Tourism Circuit are the USP of Bihar.
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation wishes to tap the potential of Inbound Tourism by integrating the socio-economic activities of the local communities for sustainable development of tourism.

In addition, we are revamping our tourist infrastructure to match global standards, catering to foreign tourists at destinations falling on the Buddhist Circuit, Jain Circuit, Sikh Circuit, Sufi Circuit, Gandhi Circuit, and Ecotourism sites. We are focusing on development of wayside amenities, improving our hotel standards and services, connectivity, heritage development, etc.”
“We are making efforts to build ropeways at select destinations, upgrade our infrastructure, broaden our national and state highways, and improve our transport services. Among other things, we are looking to develop theme parks, world-class sound and light shows, and Adventure Tourism at select destinations,” he added.
