Iran witnessed three times more tourist arrivals till now since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, i.e. March 21, as compared to the same period last year.

Commenting on the news, Iran’s First Vice President, Ishaq Jahangiri, said, “Absorbing foreign tourists play an import role in boosting the country’s economy. The government will allocate special facilities to investors active in the tourism industry,” he explained. It was previously reported that the number of European tourists visiting Iran increased by 240% in the first 45 days of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 — May 5).”

Iran is currently focusing primarily on medical and religious tourists and is developing its infrastructure and transportation system to attract more tourists. With the steady increase in tourism sector and arrivals, President Hassan Rouhani is expecting to attract 10 million international tourists each year.

“Last year, some 4 million foreign tourists visited Iran,” announced Darvish Amiri, Official,  Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization.
