Slovakia enjoys 7.9% rise in tourist arrivals this year

The Transport Minister of Slovakia, Ján Počiatek, disclosed that the first three quarters of 2013 witnessed around 3.2 million tourist visits to the country, which further resulted in an increase of 7.9% in tourist arrivals than 2012. Around 1.34 million overseas tourists visited Slovakia creating a boost of 10.1% year-on-year. The tourism sector enjoyed an increase of 8.5% as the income touched €1.45 billion.

“We’re pleased by the continuing increase in visitor rates from neighbouring countries, such as Hungary, Austria, Germany and Ukraine,” Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) Head Marta Kučerová said, adding that number of Russian tourists is also increasing.
