The Bahraini government has kick started the Dilmunia Island project at its al-Muharraq province.
Mohamed Khalil al-Sayed, chairman of the company implementing the project, said the project is slated to be constructed on 125 hectares of land at an estimated cost of $1.6 billion. Ithmaar Development Company (IDC) is responsible for developing the entire project.
The project features residential areas including 4,500 housing units, hotels, shopping malls and recreational facilities, as well as health care and fitness services in a resort environment.
“The goal of the project is to boost the country’s chances in world tourism,” Mohamed Khalil al-Sayed added.
