African travel industry wins big at World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony
At the World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony, 2018 many finest travel brands across Africa and the Indian Ocean have been unveiled in the star-studded gala ceremony in Durban, South Africa.
Durban was voted as Africa’s Leading City Destination, while Cape Town was acknowledged as it picked up Africa’s Leading Festival & Event Destination.
Amongst the India Ocean categories, Mauritius was named as Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination while the Maldives was awarded ad the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination.
Graham Cooke, founder, World Travel Awards said, “The Durban ICC has reinforced its standing as a world-class entertainment venue on what has been a magnificent evening of travel industry triumph, as well as a highlight of our 25th anniversary.”
He continued, “We have had the privilege of recognising the leading hotels, airlines and hospitality providers from across Africa and the Indian Ocean and my congratulations to each of them.”
Naming the winners in the aviation sector, Ethiopian Airlines was voted as Africa’s Leading Airline, while Kenya Airlines picked up Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class and Africa’s Leading Airline – Economy Class.
Cape Town International Airport was named as Africa’s Leading Airport.
Air Mauritius claimed the Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline, Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline – Business Class, Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline Brand titles.
In the hospitality sector, Hilton Hotels & Resorts won Africa’s Leading Hotel Brand title, Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa was named as Africa’s Leading Boutique Hotel, Thanda Island, Tanzania was awarded Africa’s Leading Luxury Island title amongst others.
