Mexico witnesses 10.6 million travellers in the first quarter of 2018
Mexico welcomed more than 10.6 million international travellers in the first quarter of 2018 as compared to 9.4 million travellers in the same period previous year. The large number of international tourists helped Mexico to earn USD 6.217 billion in tourism revenue, an increase of 12.6% Y-o-Y. The tourism ministry of Mexico said in a statement that only in the month of March, the flow of international tourists reached 4 million.
According to the tourism ministry, average expenditure by travellers in the first quarter was USD 533. The ministry also confirmed that in 2017, Mexico was ranked as the sixth most visited country in the world, with 39.3 million visitors, surpassing nations such as Germany, Britain and Turkey.
Mexican Tourism Minister Enrique de la Madrid also showed great eagerness in inviting travellers to his country.
