TTF Guwahati: Focus on integration of east and northeast
India’s leading travel trade show network, TTF successfully celebrated the completion of 25 years with a maiden journey to Guwahati, to tap into the vast tourism potential of northeast India.
Guwahati’s Maniram Dewan Trade Centre is hosting TTF- Guwahati from June 27-29, 2014, in which participants from all parts of India and some from abroad have come together under one roof, to showcase their destinations to the travel industry and tourists from this part of the country. The show is exclusively open for trade visitors till 3 pm on Friday, after which it will be open for all till Sunday evening. With over 100 stalls from 20 Indian states, the three day travel trade show is open for public on the weekend. Entry to the show is free and the visitors are also being offered complimentary souvenirs. Dhruba Hazarika, Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of Tourism inaugurated the show.
With the encouragement and support of Department of Tourism, Assam Government, TTF Guwahati brings a wonderful opportunity to form and strengthen connectivity between the various departments of the travel and tourism sector. It further provides a platform for the NTOs, state tourism departments, tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, airline owners, etc. to showcase their products and attract potential customers.
Attractive pavilions have been put up by Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir and many other states, to cater to the local tourists. China Tourism is participating as the Feature Country. Assam Tourism, as the Host State, has put up a large pavilion. Several participants, such as Odisha Tourism, have also brought their cultural troupe along to provide the visitors a taste of the traditional dance, songs and music of their respective regions.
Commenting on the importance of TTF Guwahati, Hazarika said that this is the right time to revive the picture of tourism in Assam and in all the seven states of northeast India. “For many years we have been following the traditional mode of publicity. This event is a perfect instance of modernity in Assam though tourism and travel,” he said.
“This is the first time Odisha tourism has been participating in an event in Guwahati. We have been participating in all the TTFs across the country. Last year, after participating in TTF Mumbai, there is an increase of 2%-3% in tourist arrivals. This year we have requested TTF to organise an event in Odisha in February 2015. Our point is to attract more international tourists to Odisha and more private partners to create world-class infrastructures,” commented M. R. Patnaik, IAS Director, Tourism & Ex-Officio Joint Secretary to Govt.
“We are taking the opportunity to participate in TTF Guwahati in big way. We are trying to work hand in hand to form a very big tourism circuit. Gateway to visit northeast is definitely West Bengal, especially North Bengal. We are hopeful that TTF will go on very successfully for coming year.” said Sunil Agarwal, Joint Director of Tourism, North Bengal.
Northeast India which comprises Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura and it defiantly shares a shared future. Northeast has a shared future and for a tourist who is coming from faraway places it is one package, one product. TTF Guwahati is hosting several conferences focussing on the removing of restriction and any hassles which are curbing the complete exposure of the tourism offerings of northeast India. TTF Guwahati is also looking in the direction of promoting east India, which includes Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha, with a special focus on the northeast part. TTF Guwahati is taking a big step to increase the flow of tourists within the country as well, encouraging travellers to undertake more number of interstate tours.
“Even if you are not sure about your next vacation, a visit to the TTF is a must because it is the next best thing to actually tour so many places,” said Sanjiv Agarwal, Chairman & CEO of Fairfest Media, organiser of the show. “We hope the travel loving people of the region will respond by visiting the fair and meet exhibitors who have come from all over India,” he added.
