Tourism industry in Kenya is booming with hope about the industry’s bright prospect in the next year despite slow growth experienced this year.

The industry in the current year has suffered setback with the less number of tourist arrivals. But Kenya Tourist Board (KTB), responsible for showcasing the country as an attractive tourist destination, said it expects to have non-traditional tourist source markets to fulfil that gap.

Muriithi Ndegwa, the managing director of KTB emphasizes that the board has put in all their efforts to start new campaigns to tap into the emerging markets and strengthen Kenya’s position as a preferred tourist destination.

“The main growth drivers have been emerging markets. Countries like China, India and the United Arab Emirates, as well as South Africa and Uganda have in the recent past shown they have potential to drive earnings,” he said.
